Quote of the Day: James Stewart

If a western is a good western, it gives you a sense of that world and some of the qualities those men had - their comradeship, loyalty, and physical courage. The vogue for the new kind of western seems pretty unimportant to me. They try to destroy something that has been vital to people for so long.

- James Stewart, Actor

  1. Great quote and it applies so vividly to James Stewart's outstanding Westerns with director Anthony Mann.

  2. Java,
I'm glad I didn't read the quote before watching Cowboys and Aliens last week. ha ha
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday.

  3. Jimmy Stewart speaks to more than just westerns -- modern movies, beginning in the 60's, were determined to cut down all of the things we treasured in history, depicting everything and everybody as bad, cynical, hypocritical, etc. I love this quote from Stewart -- I feel the same way!
