William Goldman calms me

William Goldman is an American screenwriter known for The Princess Bride and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

He's known for saying, "No one knows anything," meaning Hollywood pretends it knows what will make money and garner awards, but there is never a guarantee.

Every time  someone gets huffy about nontraditional casting, claiming it won't make money,  or when someone believes that we need to see Bruce Wayne's parents in that tragic alley scene again because we bought tickets to see it last time, I think to myself "No one knows anything," and feel a bit of glee.

Goldman let us in on a secret I figured was true- there is so much bluffing in Hollywood. It calms me to have that idea verified by an insider.
