I'm off to begin making these a part of my blog!ClassicBeckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03591715859057540467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22615056.post-15554789896403789482015-07-08T11:32:34.853-04:002015-07-08T11:32:34.853-04:00ClassicBecky,
Consistency is a key to it all... a...ClassicBecky,

Consistency is a key to it all... and patience. You're starting off again better than any newbie since you already have an archives and a group to back you up.

You know another thing you can do? Raid your archives for new material.

So often our posts are seen only when they are on the front page and never again. The following suggestions might help you to keep people on your blog longer and dust off some of your best stuff.

1. Place a "Related Posts" widget on your blog so that at the end of every post other ones are automatically suggested. Your reader will stick around longer, delving through your archives.

My current related posts widget is built into my new template, but I have also used free widgets like LinkWithin. http://www.linkwithin.com/learn

2. Spruce up some of your old posts and republish them with a new note at the top saying what you're doing.

I've done this especially for my holiday posts where I list a number of movies that people can watch for, say St. Patrick's Day. The holiday always rolls around, so I add to the old post and make a note up top about my annual list.

3. Make a link post. Choose a theme and pick your best posts for that theme from your archives. This is basically doing something similar as the LinkWithin widget, but it is carefully curated by you.

These are things you can do right quick using what you already have.

Hope that helps.

Java/DeborahSummer Havenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02112962993614672675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22615056.post-17216858400932538742015-07-08T11:13:23.244-04:002015-07-08T11:13:23.244-04:00Ah, yes, Rick! I have been really sick for one reason or the other for about the last year and a half. I have had a hard time keeping my blog up, and I'm sure some of the CMBA people have just given up on me. I want to get back to my old rate of about 2 per moth, 3 if I'm particularly inspired. I just wonder if people will even know that and return to ClassicBecky's Brain Food. You have made some wonderful points, and I am certainly taking them seriously. Rick, our Fearless Leader Emeritus, has encouraged me to pick a schedule, keep a little backlog of articles to post when I'm not feeling well -- I have not taken that great advice, not because it's not great advice, but because of the life situations. Now I am commenting on our Facebook page and visiting my favorite blogs to get back into the swing. Thanks so much for this inspiring and helpful article!
