Quote of the Day: Ingrid Bergman

Until 45 I can play a woman in love. After 55 I can play grandmothers. But between those ten years, it is difficult for an actress.

  1. Those are strange years for any woman. There is no name for the years between 45 and I'd say 65. There's infant, child, teenager, young adult, adult and then old. It's kind of a limbo period. For an actress, it's especially hard, as Ingrid said. Juan is right, sad but true.

  2. Juan & ClassicBecky,

I agree that it's sadly true even today.

This quote reminded me of a more light-hearted one from entertainer Sophie Tucker:
"From birth to age 18, a girl needs good parents, from 18 to 35 she needs good looks, from 35 to 55 she needs a good personality, and from 55 on she needs cash.”
